The size chart
Inches, taken from the garment rather than from a body. Chest is measured flat across the chest and doubled, which is the number to compare against a shirt you already own and like.

Every product page repeats this on the product itself, because a fit note is only useful at the moment you are choosing a size.
Getting it right
Between sizes
- Lay a shirt you already wear flat, measure across the chest a couple of inches below the armhole, and double it. That number is the one in the chart.
- Between two sizes, size up. It is the easier of the two to live with, and a size exchange is free.
- Planning to wear it over a vest or under a uniform shirt, size up.
